Mobility Engineer-Suspension

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for design and development of wheeled and tracked vehicle suspension systems from concept development through prototype fabrication and test. The position reports to the Mobility Systems Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop subsystem and component specifications derived from system level requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare system and subsystem performance analysis related to suspension systems including as a minimum vehicle mobility performance predictions.
  • Manage the efforts of major component suppliers to ensure on-time development of required subsystems.
  • Coordinate design development and integration of suspension related systems working with the powertrain assigned design staff as well as other multi-disciplinary functions.
  • Prepare and present design development status to management and customers.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

·      None

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to Coordinate design development including the management of designers assigned to powertrain development.
  • Understanding of vehicle propulsion systems.
  • Understanding of vehicle performance modeling and the ability of perform fundamental mobility calculations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work within CAD based design systems, Creo preferred.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn model based systems engineering techniques.

 

EDUCATION

·      Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

 

EXPERIENCE

·      5-7 years of relevant experience working with suspension systems or associated components. Combat vehicle experience preferred.

 

BACKGROUND PREREQUISITES

·      Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·      Experience in developing analytical propulsion system performance models.

·      Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience beneficial.
