Summary:

Our client is a Demolition company located in Metro Detroit. They are looking for a Project Estimator to join their growing team. The person in this role will be responsible for preparing and presenting demolition bid documents and estimates for jobs throughout the State of Michigan

 

Responsibilities

·        Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation, to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.

·        Prepare estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work and for selecting vendors or subcontractors and determining cost effectiveness.

·        Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized list.

·        Prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying specialized methodologies, techniques, or processes.

·        Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

·        Meet bid deadlines then ensure that you get a peer review for each estimate and that the estimate checklist is completed for each estimate.

·        Review job sources and any available bid sheets to determine upcoming jobs available for bid. Select those jobs to bid which would further the profit and growth objectives of the company.

·        Examine the plans and associated documents of the chosen jobs to identify the unique or unusual characteristics of the job. Make note of these to ensure they are compensated for in the bid.

·        Prepare the bidding checklist.

·        Visit the job site to ascertain any characteristics of the job not noted in the plans and documents which would impact the job and its successful completion.

·        Create the material list.

·        Able to work and build relationships with bonding agents, suppliers and subcontractors

·        Review historical job data to draw comparisons to the current job for estimating the amount of time needed to complete the work.

·        Analyze any subcontractor’s bids and select the one best suited for the job.

·        Review the bid to verify the calculations.

·        Prepare the Scope of Work and attach to the bid.

·        Oversee the packaging and presentation of the bid documents to assure time for review.

·        Submit the bid by sending the documents to the Prime Contractor or customer.

·        Analyze and track all unsuccessful bids to determine how to be more successful in future bids.

·        Assist Project Managers with Change Orders as needed

Requirements:

·        Two (2) – five (5) years of background and technical knowledge of demolition estimating experience

·        Strong ability to demonstrate attention to detail

·        Cost Estimating Training is a plus

·        College degree is a plus
