If you are interested in taking your career to the next level, it’s important to know exactly what employers are looking for when hiring. Yes, you may have the relevant skills necessary to get the job done, but there’s more to it than just having the experience. Employers also look for personal values, characteristics and personality traits when looking to add new members to their teams. It must be a good fit for all parties involved in order to reach success.
Having an optimistic mindset and attitude is one quality that employers look for and value. A positive attitude gets the job done while also motivating others to do the same without dwelling on the challenges that unavoidably come up in any work environment. Possessing a positive attitude creates a “positive ripple effect” as we like to say at IMPACT and as a result, it increases performance and makes the work culture pleasant and fun each day.
A recent article, “18 Simple Ways to Keep a Positive Attitude at Work” written by Rob Wormley, provides a guideline for eighteen of the most effective way to maintain a positive attitude in the workplace. I have picked and provided my top five practices from the list that I personally find to be the most important:
- Surround yourself with positive people
- Fill your mind with positive input
- Create high points in each day and week
- Decide your reaction to known problems ahead of time
- Embrace laughing
